  • All entries go forward to the Stage One judging panels, which will shortlist those entries considered to best meet the required criteria.
  • Only those entrants that are shortlisted at Stage One will receive further correspondence. All finalists will be notified by 5 February 2010.
  • Shortlisted finalists in Section 2 only will be invited to submit further supporting material and provide a 15 minute presentation to the Second Stage judging panel. This will be held in London on 11 February 2010. Presentations are by invitation only and we regret there is no flexibility on dates or times.
  • The judges reserve the right to contact entrants for additional information where appropriate.
  • The judges' decisions are final and no correspondence will be entered into.

European Risk Manager of the Year

 

This category is open to any individual who currently has responsibility for corporate risk management and whose work in 2009 has achieved a significant difference for his or her organisation.

This category is open to risk management teams who achieved demonstrable success with one or more initiatives in 2009.

Enterprise-Wide Risk Programme of the Year

 

This category is open to any organisation has introduced an enterprise risk management approach in 2009

Best Environmental Risk Control

 

The judges will reward those organisations that have demonstrated an outstanding initiative related to the environment in 2009.

Best Risk Communication of the Year

 

This category is open to organisations that can show that they implemented an effective and outstanding risk communication strategy which raised awareness of risk, resulting in improved risk treatment in 2009 internally, externally or both.

Best Loss Control Strategy

 

This category is open to organisations that can show that they implemented an effective and outstanding risk communication strategy which raised awareness of risk, resulting in improved risk treatment in 2009 internally, externally or both.

Best Risk Financing Programme of the Year

 

The judges will reward those organisations that can demonstrate that they have assessed their risk financing needs and tailored a programme in 2009 that improves cost effectiveness and/or achieves a better fit with or enhances an existing risk management programme.

Most Innovative use of IT or other Technology

 

This category is open to organisations which have introduced new technology or improved existing technology to produce a demonstrable benefit for their risk management programme or strategies in 2009.

Best Risk Training Programme

 

This award is for organisations that have introduced a demonstrably effective risk training programme in 2009.

Best Risk Management Approach in the Public Sector

 

Judges will reward public sector bodies that can demonstrate a comprehensive, successful and cost-effective risk management initiative in 2009 either across the entire organisation or focusing on a particular aspect.

Best Business Continuity Approach of the Year

 

This category is open to companies who can show that they initiated or implemented a well thought-out new business continuity approach in 2009 that reflected current challenges.

Risk Management Young Achiever of the Year

 

This is open to risk professionals up to the age of 35 in the private and public sector who can demonstrate that they have made a significant contribution to their organisation's risk management.

Lifetime Achiever

 

This award will be given to the individual(s) whom the judges consider to be an outstanding contributor to risk management not only within their own organisation but in the wider risk management community and/or commerce and industry at large

Section Two Categories

Awards in Section 2 are open to organisations offering products or services to the risk management community. Entrants should submit a 500-750 word entry, and in addition may supply up to 200 words of additional material which can include client testimonials. The shortlist for this category will be drawn up by a panel of European risk managers in January 2010. Those shortlisted will then be invited to submit further material and make a 15 minute presentation to a second panel of risk managers in February 2010 who will then select the winning organisations.

Risk Service Provider of the Year

 

This category is open to any organisation that has developed or improved its services to the risk management community in 2009.

This is open to any organisation that has developed or improved a risk management product in 2009

Training Initiative of the Year

 

The judges will reward organisations that can demonstrate that they have introduced a successful training initiative for corporate risk professionals in 2009.

Section Three Categories

Category   Criteria
     

European Business Insurer of the Year

 

No entry is required. Risk managers throughout Europe will be invited to vote on-line for the organisations that they consider are the best within these two categories. The results will then be professionally analysed to ensure that they are fully representative. The shortlist will be published in StrategicRISK in February 2010 and the results announced at the awards presentation on 22 April 2010.
